Stupid People and Pizza

It really amazes me how stupid people can be, generally speaking. I can use one of my favorite things in the world, pizza, to explain.

The other night I was craving something sweet to eat. I wanted, more than anything, some cinnamon rolls from Cici's Pizza. I was willing to go out and pick them up. But I could not. Why? Because Cici's went out of business several months ago.

This makes me very angry because Cici's was a very good thing. Now it's gone. And I blame the stupid people who live around here for it.

We live in a time when the economy is not the best. There are many people without jobs. Even more people with budgets that have been tightened. Well, Cici's pizza offered something that fit just that. A person could have all the pizza, pasta, salad, and dessert they could eat for about 5 bucks.

Now, in my opinion, the pizza at Cici's is average at best. The pasta is not very good (but I'm 100% Italian...I am spoiled when it comes to pasta). The salad is salad. The desserts are PHENOMENAL. My wife and kids LOVE their brownies. I did not but I don't like chocolate. But their apple dessert pizza is awesome. So good that I commonly referred to it by the name "Apple Orgasm" pizza. And then, their cinnamon rolls...my mouth is watering just thinking about them. My friends and I call them "Cinnamon Ejaculation."

But regardless of my opinions, the point is that people can spend $5 and get an all-you-can-eat meal featuring at least halfway decent food. How can you top that? Especially when you have a large family? You don't even have to leave a tip!!!

And this place was forced to go out of business? What the heck are people thinking? The economy is bad. If you are going to go out to dinner, doesn't it make sense to go someplace decent and, better yet, affordable? I'm not saying go there every time you want to eat dinner out, but there wasn't enough people willing to go there to keep it afloat? Come on people!

Yet the Texas Roadhouse here in town is ALWAYS packed. There are ALWAYS cars in the lot. Yes, Texas Roadhouse. Where it typically costs my family of 5 approximately $40 for a meal including dinners, appetizer, drinks, and tip. Compared to the $15-$20 we spent at Cici's. Yes, my young children even got to eat for free at Cici's.

Or Golden Corral. Where you get an all-you-can-eat meal...but you have to pay about $10 a person for it. That parking lot is always jammed too.

I'm not defending the quality of Cici's. Like I said, I wasn't impressed by their food...except the desserts. Man, they're good! I'm simply baffled that a place such as that was unable to stay in business in this economy. I really think it's because people are stupid and don't know a good thing when it's right in front of their eyes.

A few months ago, a Little Ceasar's Pizza restaurant opened up here in town. Not the best pizza in the world, but let me tell you, it sure does hit the spot when it's 9:30 at night, the kids are in bed, and you've had your share of Taco Bell. Plus, you can get a large, 16-in cheese or pepperoni pizza for $5. All day every day. For that price, I can deal with some sub-par tasting pizza once in a while. Heck, it's better than frozen pizza that costs about the same amount.

So we'll see if the folks in this town screw this one up too.

  1. I can't believe Cici's in Richmond closed! I always thought that my family kept it in business (at least on Sundays!).

  2. Yup, it's very sad. The sign is still up so that makes it even more sad...to see it, but not be able to eat it.
